INSIDER TIPS FOR SHOPPING A BOAT SHOW
With the opportunity to see and board boats for every lifestyle and budget, compare brands side by side, as well as check out the latest in marine gear and accessories all in one place, there’s no better place to shop—whether it’s your first or next boat. Here’s a few tips to help you make the most of your day.
HAVE A PLAN
Spend a few minutes with the floor plan to map out your day. Rather than simply wandering the aisles, first make a list of which boats and exhibits you really want to see. Be sure to check out the seminar topics and schedules, too. It’s not only fun to learn new skills, but smart to take advantage of the onsite training offered.
ASK QUESTIONS
Take advantage of the knowledge in the room. When chatting with sales people, be honest about your boating knowledge and level of experience—it will help them offer the best advice. Seek out service technicians and other experts at the show for straight talk and answers to technical questions.
CLIMB ABOARD
The show is your chance to make a hands-on assessment of features you’ll be using on the boat. Take a seat at the helm and check out the view from the captain’s chair. Is the boat equipped for the activities you enjoy? For example, a livewell for fish or a swim platform. How’s the storage?
MAKE A DEAL
Exhibitors are here to sell—and it’s not always just the price that makes show deals the best deals. Ask about special financing, options packages and other incentives.
