Boat Green

Recreational boating is a pastime enjoyed by millions. Yet the waters and marine environment that boaters so love are in serious jeopardy from pollution, from resource mismanagement, and from misunderstanding. Boaters can help to change that. Although a relatively small part of the problem of marine environmental degradation, recreational boaters can be a huge part of the solution, writes Clyde W. Ford, an avid boater of over 20 years, whose encounters with polluted waters galvanized him to explore workable solutions.

Bobby Orr: My Life

The man often referred to as the greatest ever to play the game: Bobby Orr. From 1966 through the mid-70s he could change a game just by stepping on the ice ... He shares his story and here is our favourite quote " All of us grandkids would spend endless hours during the summer months at the cottage, fishing and boating and generally having a great time. When you live in a northern climate and have to contend with a lot of cold weather, you learn to appreciate the warm summers."

While Goat's back is turned, Duck commandeers the boat, appointing himself as Captain and speeds off with his reluctant crew. Of course, chaos ensues, with the friends getting washed out to sea and Duck discovering that he's a landlubber after all.

Chasing Records: One Man's Quest to Shatter as Many Angling Milestones as Possible

For most anglers, catching a world-record fish is something they can only fantasize about. "Maybe," the angler thinks, "I'll get lucky." But if the reason you fish is to catch world-record fish, then luck is only a very small part of it, as Robert Cunningham has learned in the course of a long quest during which he has caught fifty-seven world-record fish, as certified by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA). Cunningham's pursuit of record fish began on the remote and austere Chandeleur Islands off the Louisiana coast, which he reached flying his own seaplane, and where he chased and landed several world-record redfish. Cunningham then moved offshore, where he took record cobia and dolphin on both conventional tackle with a fly rod, and set an astonishing eleven world records in one year. Cunningham has caught record fish in the sloughs of the Mobile River Delta, the interior lakes of the Bahamas, and along tide rips more than one hundred miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. He has fought potential world-record fish for eight hours, only to lose them at boatside, and then gone back for more, and alongthe way, learned all manner of angling skills as well as the ability to shake off the (literal) bad breaks. His account of one angler's obsession is full of humor, disappointment, and triumph.

Flotsam and Jetsam: The Collected Adventures, Opinions, and Wisdom from a Life Spent Messing About in Boats

His stories revolve around boats and boatbuilding, with countless sidetracks into such esoterica as clam chowder, sawmills, cast-netting, and alligators. The Adventure of Louey and Frank

PreSchool-Grade 2-Sitting by a pond one day, Louey the Rabbit and Frank the Bear decide to tie some old (giant-sized) shoes together and use them to sail out to sea, armed with pickle sandwiches and a bag of marshmallows. This conversation continues even after the "rock" eats their marshmallows, throws the two into the sea, and abandons them. Finally, the two latch on to what might be a log or a fish and reach the shore. They agree that whether it was a rock or a whale, it was an adventure.
