Technical and Mechanical Questions

As The Boating Guy I get a lot of technical or mechanical questions, and there is such a variety of possible answers to these my best recommendation to you is always to either check with a marine technician, and/or get in touch with the manufacturer of that product. They have a very in-depth and broad understanding of all of their products (for example, say, comparing one year’s motor with another newer model).

I always recommend that boaters follow the manufacturer guidelines on selecting the correct product types for their product. Have a look at your owner’s manual to confirm, for example, the type of oil that is recommended and then talk to your local marine technician about the brands that they recommend that will meet those guidelines. That way you can be sure that you are doing everything that the manufacturer recommends to protect and maintain your equipment.

There are plenty of marinas that have qualified marine technicians on site that would be able to help you. You can find a list of marinas on our website.

The other thing I’d suggest is talking to some of your boating friends, or other boaters at your marina. They’ll very likely have recommendations for you on who they’ve found to be good marine technician.
